Animal Guides

Animals are humanís best teacher. If we allow ourselves to sit still, and listen to the lessons they have come to teach. Have you ever found yourself attracted to the qualities of a certain animal, or were intrigued by their look? Have you ever noticed certain animals crossing your path both in awake as well as dream time? Then they may just be the Animal Totem or Guide coming to relay a message or lesson to assist you on your personal journey. Whether itís a hawk, otter, snake, or wild boar, even dragonfly, they can bring specific qualities to help you face a certain challenge that maybe present in your life today.

Is there a difference between an Animal Totem and Animal Guide?

Animal Totems usually represent you as a person, and will walk with you through a lifetime. They are your life teachers if you allow them to be. They are willing and waiting for you to connect with them so they can give you the gift of their wisdom, and the knowledge they hold, to help you find peace and balance this lifetime.

Animal Guides will cross your path during different times in your life, or for certain growth opportunities that may arise. They come with specific lessons and qualities that help you learn valuable insights. In your lifetime you may meet many of these Spirit sent friends, so be aware, one maybe speaking to you now during your current situation.

Below are just a few examples of some of the qualities and gifts that are available to us all through the animal kingdom. From mammal, bird, reptile, or insect, they are powerful teachers, messengers, and guides gifted to us.

Owl - Owl gives us the power to see that which is hidden to the naked eye, his ability to see in the darkness reveals things which bring great wisdom and knowledge. The owl is the symbol of feminine wisdom, insight and intuition. Owl spirit often heralds the death or ending of the little self. The lesson is to listen carefully to the inner voice, for owl's spirit asks us to be a light in the darkness.

Snake - Snake medicine is a powerful medicine that is the power of creation. Snake embodies our sexuality, psychic energies, reproduction, and our immortality. Snake appears in our dreams to alert of us of a significant event that will soon spiral into our waking life. Snake's gifts are psychic energy and spiritual healing.

Tiger - When a Tiger totem enters your life, expect new adventures. It will awaken new passion and power. Tigers are associated with water and have all the properties of the element of Water Ė healing, power through gentle flow, feminine energies.

Wild Boar - Warrior strength, warrior mind, fierceness in battle, chivalry, nobility, prosperity, strategic skills, deadly accuracy, personal power, re-birth, organization, successful confrontation, comrade, respected leadership and pure masculine energy.

Wolf - It is through wolf that we learn the greater lessons of life. Wolf is the bringer of new ideas. Loyalty, success, perseverance, stability and thought. Wolves are also regarded as path finders and teachers.

Red Tail Hawk - Hawks are one of the most intriguing and mystical of the birds of prey. They are the messengers and the protectors, and the visionaries of the air. Those with this medicine will possess a sharp mind , and these souls will possess the ability to perceive the subtlest of nuances that might escape others.

Hummingbird - Hummingbird medicine brings the songs of joy to our spirit. It is through hummingbird that we are able to have a joyful and loving heart, and enjoy the beauty of life.

Elephant - This beautiful creature hold the teachings of compassion, loyalty, strength, intelligence, discernment and power to name a few. If this is your medicine these virtues are a part of your natural character. By applying these gifts in your life soul evolution is achieved.

Dragonfly - Dragonfly is the totem of the dreamtime, and illusion. Dragonfly gives us the gift of communication with the nature spirits. Dragonfly teaches us how to differentiate between the real and the imaginary energies of life, and to bring your thoughts and actions into a form which you can bring into the reality of your life.

Squirrel - Squirrel is the gatherer. It is through Squirrel medicine that we learn to to gather and store our energies so they are available at times when they are most needed. Squirrel teaches us the wisdom of preparing for the future, and not squandering all that we have on today.

Monkey - Monkey spirit challenges the dreamer to beware of false-hearted associates who will befriend us only to advance some personal agenda. The lesson with monkey is to be playful, self-reliant and light-hearted. Monkey's gift is the heart of our inner child. Thus, monkey medicine brings great freedom to the dreamer.

Turtle - Turtle is our Earth Mother, and through this energy we learn to be caring and nurturing. Turtle reminds us that we must never take anything from the Earth without replacing, thus we learn the value of all creation.

Butterfly - Butterfly brings about the transformation in our life. Through Butterfly energy we pass from the cocoon into the larva stages, and on into the birth of spirit that we may soar in our freedom of self.

Vulture - When Vulture appears it is often a wake up call that a competitor or problem is on the horizon. Vulture reminds us to use past experiences to create positive solutions. Vulture's gifts include keen insight, patience, trust, resourcefulness and flexibility. The key is to be fully open to the purification of the psyche. As the old is removed, the opportunity for renewal can take place.

Rabbit - Rabbit brings us the knowledge of fear, and teaches us that which we fear is that which we will bring upon ourselves. Only by acknowledging our fears can we overcome them.

Otter - Otter is feminine medicine, and teaches us the beauty of our female energies. It is Otter that brings forth our ability to allow others into our lives without doubt, jealousy, or fear.

Dog - Dog energy is loyalty. It is through Dog that we learn to accept others as they are, and to serve others with no thought of self. To see a dog in the dream world indicates that a very powerful friend or ally will soon enter our energy field. Dog's gifts are insight, devotion, generosity, protection, faithfulness and unconditional love. Dog also teaches us to be aware of subtle changes.

Buffalo - Buffalo energy is the energy of prayer and abundance. Buffalo is the most sacred of animals to the Native Americans. If you have Buffalo energy you will know that your prayers are heard by the Grandfather, and this puts you in the position of being sought out by those needing assistance.

Frog - Frog medicine is of the water, and brings us the ability to cleanse ourselves, emotionally, and spiritually. It is through Frog that we are able to put aside the stress of the day and renew ourselves.

Ladybug - Ladybug will appear to us when we have an opportunity to succeed, grow, and start something new. All of the beetle family transforms from larvae to adult, showing us we too can transform our lives. Let Ladybug consume your unwanted fears and encourage new adventures.

Crow - Crow is the medicine of the "Universal Law." If you are blessed with the medicine of Crow you are so in tune with the law of the universe you are able to bend the law of the physical universe. Those who possess Crow medicine are given the duty of protecting the sacred universal law.

Bumble Bee - Bee is the ancient symbol of good fortune, joy and harmony. He buzzes about in order to awaken us into the moment. Bee also teaches us to engage fully in our creative endeavors. The key is to focus with intention and to be single-minded in purpose.

Dolphin - Dolphin medicine teaches us the breath of life. By learning to change the rhythm of our breathing, we are able to tap into other life forms, and acquire knowledge and information. Dolphin's gifts are optimism and generosity

Opossum - Opossum teaches us the medicine of diversion. Opossum supplies us with the ability to use strategy in difficult situations, and to rely upon our instincts.
